35x/100=40+30

Maximum marks in test is 200 for the candidate who is appearing for an examination in which pass mark is 35% .

Solution:

Pass percentage required for examination = 35%

Pass marks secured by student = 40

Fail marks secured by student = 30

Total marks secured by student = 40 + 30 = 70

Let the maximum marks for which the test is scheduled be x.

35% of the total marks will be the number of marks secured by the student.

\begin{array}{l}{x \times 35 \%=70} \\ \\{x \times \frac{35}{100}=70} \\ \\{x \times 35=7000} \\ \\{x=\frac{7000}{35}=200}\end{array}
