25% of maximum marks=25/100 of x=x/4

According to the question

x/4=y-30       (1)

Also, 50% of max marks=50/100 of x=x/2

x/2=y+20      (2)

(1)-(2)

x/4-x/2=y-30-y-20

or x=200

Similarly, y=80

Hence maximum marks=200

Minimum marks=80
