Let the Maximum marks be x

And the pass marks be y

Given

 \frac{36x}{100}  + 24 = y

 \frac{43x}{100}  - 18 = y

Substraction of above two equations we get

 \frac{x}{100} (36 - 43) + 24 + 18 = 0

 \frac{x}{100} ( - 7) + 42 = 0

x = ( - 42) \times  \frac{100}{ - 7}

x = 600

Also

 \frac{36 \times 600}{100}  + 24 = y

y = 240
