A candle flame 3cm high is placed at distance of 3m from a wall. how far a concave mirror be placed so that it may form a 9cm high image of the flame on the same wall.​

Let concave mirror is placed x distance from the candle. so, wall will be at ( 3+x ) m distance.

Given magnification,

3 = v/u

[ v = 3+x & u = x ]

3 = (3+x)/x

3x = 3 + x

2x = 3

x = 1.5 m

Concave mirror is to be place at a distance of ( 3+1.5 ) m = 4.5 m form the wall.
