Fire is a chemical reaction that creates light and heat from oxygen and fuel. A lit candleneeds to draw oxygen from the air in order to continue burning. If you limit the amount of air available, the candle's flame eventually goes out once it uses up all the oxygen hence when you cover it by a jar it goes off..

A candle becasuse it have contact with oxygen of air.
Hence, if candle get off it leads to cut of supply of air from it.
The air which is present in jar will get very quickly and lack of air be there. So, it get off.
