A candle is floating on the surface of water such that half part of it is submerged.If candle is burning at the rate of 4mm/min . The rate with which it’s bottom moves up ( in mm/min) is:

since the candle is floating half immersed that is symmetrically.it is due to the bouyant force balances its weight.
now if it burns at 4mm/min
the candle moves up that is the base rises up At a rate of 2mm/min due dec in candles weight and a net bouyant force exprienced by it upwards to maintain the equilibrium
