A cannon ball is shot off a 40 m high cliff at 100 m/s using an unknown angle The cannon ball must hit the ship that is 600 m away What is the angle that the cannon ball must be shot at in order to hit the ship​

The path traced by Canon ball will be completely parabola....

max. height of it's path(H)=40m

Range(horizontal distance)=600m

initial speed=100m/s

we know Range=2usin∅cos∅/g

so,

2usin∅cos∅=6000

usin∅cos∅=3000........

sin∅cos∅=30......i)

maximum height=u^2sin^2∅/2g

u^2sin^2∅=40×20=800

sin^2∅=800/10000=.8...ii)

divideing,i) by second we get

cot∅=300/8

∅=cot^-37.5

Hence the angle should be cot^-37.5....
