The heat produced in the wire is 4 J.

Explanation:

Correct statement:

When a capacitor of value 200 uF charged to 200V  is discharged separately through resistance of 2  ohms and 8 ohms, then heat produced in joule will  respectively be:

(1) 4 and 16

(2) 16 and 4

(3) 4 and 8

(4) 4 and 4

Solution:

Capacitance of capacitor , C = 200 uF

Potential across the capacitor , V = 200 volts.

Heat produced due to discharged of capacitor of capacitor C which is placed across the voltage V is given by, H = 1/2 CV²

= 1/2 × 200 uF × (200 volts)²

= 100 × 10^-6 × 40000 J

= 4 J

It is clear that heat produced doesn't depends upon value of resistance.

Thus the heat produced in the wire is 4 J.
