Answer:

The potential across each capacitor is 5 volts

Explanation:

Given : C1 = 5 μF

C2 = 0 μF

V1 = 10 v

V2 = 10 v

To find : Potential across each capacitor

Solution : We know that,

Q = CV

For charge in Q1,

Q1 = C1 * V1

Q1 = 5 * 10

∴ Q1 = 50 μC

For charge in Q2

Q2 = C2 * V2

Q2 = 0 * 10

∴ Q2 = 0 μC

Now,

Both capacitors are connected in parallel

∴ Add Q1 and Q2

Q1 + Q2 = (C1 + C2)V

50 + 0 = 5V

∴ V = 10 volts

∴ Voltage across each capacitor is 10 volts
