Given info : A car accelerates along a straight road from rest to 21 m/s in 5 sec.

To find : the magnitude of its average acceleration is...

solution : initial velocity of car, u = 0 [ as car starts motion from rest. ]

final velocity of car, v = 21 m/s

time taken to reach the final velocity, t = 5 sec

using formula, v = u + at

⇒21 m/s = 0 + a × 5

⇒a = 21/5 = 4.2 m/s²

Therefore the acceleration of car is 4.2 m/s².
