Required Answer :

Acceleration = 2 m/s²

Explication of steps :

According to given question,

  • Intial velocity (u) = 0 m/s [After the start i.e, car was at rest]
  • Final velocity (v) = 20 m/s
  • Time taken (t) = 10 sec

We have to find:

  • Acceleration (a)

Acceleration refers to the rate of change in velocity with time.

\boxed{\sf {Acceleration = \dfrac{v -u}{t} }} \\

 \longmapsto a = \sf \dfrac{20-0}{10} m/s²

 \longmapsto a = \sf \dfrac{20}{10} m/s²

 \longmapsto a = 2 m/s²

Therefore, acceleration of the car is 2 m/s².

Points to remember :

• Acceleration is defined as rate of change in velocity with time.

\boxed{\sf {Acceleration = \dfrac{v -u}{t} }} \\

  • v denotes final velocity.
  • u denotes initial velocity.
  • t denotes time.

• SI unit of acceleration is m/s².

• Acceleration is a vector quantity.

• Negative acceleration is called retardation.
