Given :

  • 1 litre = 8.6km
  • 36.5 litre = ?

To Find :

  • The distance it can cover with 36.5 litre of petrol.

Type of variation :

  • Direct
  • In such type of variation if one value increases the other would also increase. In the case of given question if the petrol is increased obviously the car will also travel more kilometres.

Solution :

\longrightarrow{\sf{1 \: litre = 8.6 km}}

\longrightarrow{\sf{36.5 \: litre = ?km}}

\longrightarrow{\sf{Cross \: Multiplication :}}

\longrightarrow{\sf{\dfrac{8.6 \times 36.5}{1}}}

\longrightarrow{\sf{\dfrac{313.9}{1}}}

\large{\boxed{\implies{\sf{313.9 km}}}}

So , the car will travel 313.9 km with 36.5 litres of petrol.

Note that 313.9 km can also be written as :

313 km and 9 metres.
