A car completed a journey of 5000 km. First 2000 km at 40 km/hr then next 1500 km at 60 km/hr and rest at 30 km/hr. Calculate the average speed of the journey?

Total distance = 5000km
First half=
Distance = 2000km
Speed = 40km/hr
Time = distance / speed
= 2000/40
= 50 hrs
Second half =
Total distance = 1500km
Speed = 60km/hr
Time= distance /speed
= 1500/60
= 25 hrs
Third half =
Total distance = 5000-(2000+1500)
= 5000-(3500)
= 1500 km
Speed = 30km/hr
Total time = distance /speed
= 1500/30
= 50 hrs
Avg speed =
total distance covered/ total time taken
Total distance = 5000km
Total time = 50hrs+25hrs+50hrs
= 125 hrs
Avg speed = 5000/ 125
=40km/hr
