Explanation:

The car covers the first 400 m with a speed of

8 m /s.

So time taken=distance/speed

=400/8=50 second

It covered the next 1200 m with a speed of 12m/s

So time taken=1200/12=100 second.

At last it covered a distance of 360 m with a speed of 12 m/ s.

So the time taken=360/12=30 second.

Now total distance covered=400+1200+360

=1960 m.

Total time taken=50+100+30=180 second.

Thus the average speed of the car

=total distance/total time

=1960/180=10.88 m/s.(answer)

hope it will help you.

A Car covered First 400m Distance with a Speed of 8m/s, the Next 1200m with a Speed of 12m/s & the Last 360m with a Speed of 12m/s. Calculate the Average Speed of the Car.

Given :

Total Distance = 400 + 1200 + 360m = 1960m

Total Time Taken = 50 + 100 + 30secs = 180secs

To Find :

The Average Speed of the Car.

Note :

To find the Average Speed, the Time taken is not Mentioned. So, Finding the Time Taken, we get -

The Car First Covered 400m in 50secs. with a Speed of 8m/s, Next Covered 1200m in 100secs. with a Speed of 12m/s & Last Covered 360m in 30secs. with a Speed of 12m/s.

Solution :

As we've got the Time Taken by the Car in each Case, we can continue finding the Average Speed by the Formula given Below -

average \: speed \:  =  \frac{total \: distance \: covered}{total \: time \:taken } \\ average \: speed \:  =  \frac{1960m}{180secs}  \\ dividing \: this \: you \: will \: get \: the \: average \: speed \: as  =  \\ 10.88ms {}^{ - 1}

Therefore, the Average Speed of the Car is 10.88 m/s.
