Solution :

Let the distance covered = d km

Petrol consumed = c liters

________________

d | 120 | d2

________________

c | 3 li | 7 li

________________

We know that ,

d is directly proportional to c

Therefore ,

d1 × c2 = d2 × c1

=> 120 × 7 = d2 × 3

=> ( 120 × 7 )/3 = d2

=> 40 × 7 = d2

=> 280 = d2

Therefore ,

Distance covered by 7 liter

Petrol = d2 = 280 km
