Given :-

  • A car covers 45km in 3L of petrol

 \\

To Find :-

  • How much distance will it cover in 7L of petrol ?

 \\

Solution :-

❏ In this question, it is given that a car covers 45km in 3L of petrol. So we will calculate the distance that it can cover in 1L of Petrol after that we will Multiple the distance by 7.

⟾ Distance in 3L petrol = 45km

⟾ Distance in 1L petrol = 45 ÷ 3

⟾ Distance in 1L petrol = 15km

Now,

➞ Distance in 1L petrol = 15km

➞ Distance in 7L petrol = 15 × 7

➞ Distance in 7L petrol = 105km

Thus the Car will cover 105km in 7L

Given:

  • A car covers 45km in 3L of petrol.

To Find:

  • How much distance will it cover in 7L of petrol?

Understanding the question

Now we have said that a car covers 45 km with 3L of petrol and that we have tofind how much distance will be covered with 7L

Table:

\begin{gathered} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \begin{gathered} \footnotesize\boxed{\begin{array}{ c |c} \frak \red{ \pmb{distance}}& \frak \red{ \pmb{petrol}}\\ \dfrac{\qquad\qquad}{ \sf{45 \: km}}& \dfrac{\qquad\qquad}{ \sf{3L}}& \\ \dfrac{\qquad\qquad}{ \sf{ x\: km}}&\dfrac{\qquad\qquad}{ \sf{7L}}& \\ \end{array}}\end{gathered}\end{gathered}

Which means,

  • 45 : 3 : : x : 7

Hence, we can say that the quantities are in proportion

We know that when two quantities are in proportion their product of means = product of extremes So, now let's form an equation accordingly and find the distance covered with 7L of petrol

  • ★ Means = 3 and x
  • ★ Extremes = 45 and 7

 \longrightarrow \tt \: 45 \times 7 = 3 \times x \\ \\ \\ \longrightarrow \tt 315 = 3x \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \\ \longrightarrow \tt x = \cancel\frac{315}{3} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \\ \longrightarrow \tt x = { \pink{ \boxed{ \tt{105km}}}} \: \: \: \: \: \: \:

  • Hence the distance travelled with 7L of petrol is 105km
