Solution :-

Given ,

  • Distance travelled = 3km
  • Time taken to travell = 5 min

We need to find ,

  • Speed of car = ?

Conversion :-

We need to convert the given units into m(metre) & s(seconds) . Because S.I. unit of speed is m/s

As we know that ,

1 km = 1000m

• 3km = 3(1000)

3km = 3000 m

1 min = 60s

• 5min = 5(60)

5min = 300s

Now ,

Speed = distance/time

Substituting ,

  • Speed = ?
  • Distance = 3000m
  • Time = 300s

⇒ Speed = 3000/300

Speed = 30 m/s

Hence , speed of car is 30m/s

Answer:

Given:

Distance covered (d) = 3 km

Total time taken = 5 minutes

To find:

Speed of the car.

Formula used:

Speed = Distance/Time

Solution:

d = 3 km

= 3000 m

[since 1 km=1000 m]

t = 5 minutes

= 300 s

[since 1 minute = 60 s]

Now,

Speed = Distance/Time

= 3000/300

= 30 m/s

Therefore, speed of the car is 30m/s.

Extra information:

To solve for distance use the formula for distance d = st, or distance equals speed times time.

distance = speed x time

Rate and speed are similar since they both represent some distance per unit time like miles per hour or kilometers per hour. If rate r is the same as speed s, r = s = d/t. You can use the equivalent formula d = rt which means distance equals rate

times time.

distance = rate x time

To solve for speed or rate use the formula for speed, s = d/t which means speed equals distance divided by time.

speed = distance/time

To solve for time use the formula for time, t = d/s which means time equals distance divided by speed.

time = distance/speed
