A car covers a distance of 300 km speed of 60 km /hour and then covers a distance of 450 km with a speed of 90 km/ hour calculate its average speed​

           Distance covered - d = 450km(Journey - 2)

           speed - v = 90km/hr (Journey - 2)

To Find: Average speed = ?

Time taken for Journey 1 = t₁

Time taken for Journey 2 = t₂

Solution:

Formula used: average speed = Total distance /total time (T)

t₁ = D/V

t₂ = d/v

Applying the above formula to calculate t₁:

t₁ = D/V

t₁ = 300/60

t₁ = 5hr

Similarly, Applying the formula to calculate t₂:

t₂ = d/v

t₂ = 450/90

t₂ = 5hr

Total time - T = t₁ + t₂

T = 5 + 5 = 10 hr

Total distance covered = D + d

= 300 + 450

= 750 km

Average speed = Total distance/T

Average speed = 750/10

                          = 75km/hr

Hence, Average speed is 75km/hr.
