A car covers a distance of 400km at a x km/hr speed. Had the speed been 12km/hr more, the time taken for the journey would have been 1hr 40mins less. Find original speed of car.

i. The time taken by car in second case is: *

400/x

400/(x-12)

400/(x+12)

None

ii. If time taken is 1hr 40mins less, then: *

400/x- 400/(x+12)=1hr 40mins

400/x- 400/(x-12)=1hr 40mins

400/(x+12)- 400/x=1hr 40mins

400/(x-12)- 400/x=1hr 40mins

iii. Quadratic equation formed is *

x^2+12x-12880=0

x^2+12x-2880=0

x^2-12x-2880=0

x^2-12x+2880=0

iv. Value of x is *

-60

48

60

-48
