Answer :

Given -

Distance covered by car in 1st hour is 50 km.

Distance covered by the car in 2nd hour is 40 km.

Distance covered by the car in in last two hours is 60 km.

To Find -

Average Speed ?

Solution -

First Case :

Distance = 50 km

Time = 1 hr

Second case :

Distance = 40 km

Time = 1 hr

Third case :

Distance = 60 km

Time = 2 hr

Now, Average Speed = Total Distance/Total Time.

Hence, Avg. Speed = (50 + 40 + 60)/(4 hr)

⇒ Avg. Speed = 150/4

⇒ Avg. Speed = 37.5 km/hr

⇒ Avg. Speed = 37.5 * 5/18

⇒ Avg. Speed = 10.41 m/s

Hence, Average Speed of the motion is 10.41 m/s.
