a car covers the first half of the distance between two places at the speed of 40km/h and the second half at 60km/h.what is average speed of the car? ans is 48km/h how it will come

average speed= total distance travelled/ total time take

let's assume total distance travelled is 240km just for simplification

so time taken to travel first half
time=distance/speed =120/40=3hr

time taken to trave 2nd half
time2=120/60=2hr

average speed=240km/2hr+3hr=48km/he

you can solve this for X km but have to do not of calculation.
