A car covers the first half of the distance between two places at a speed of 40km/h and the second half at 600km/h. What is the average speed of the car.​

Explanation:Let the total distance be x km.

According to 1 condition.

Distance=x/2

Speed=40km/h

Time=Distance/speed

=x/2÷40=x/80

According to 2 condition.

Distance=x/2

Speed=60km/h

Time=x/2÷60=x/120

Now, Avg speed = total distance/Total time

Total distance=x

Total time=x/80+x/120

=5x/240

Avg speed=x/5x/240

=48km/h
