Given:-

Speeds= 30km/h and 60 km/h

Total Distance covered= 2d( Car has a Return also)

Total time taken=d/30 + d/60

=>2d+d/60

=>3d/60

=>d/20 hour

Formula used:-

Average speed=Total distance/Total time

_____________________________

Solution:-

Average Speed=Total distance/Total time

= 2d/d/20

=20*2

=40 km/h

Answer:

Explanation:

Given,

Here, we have

Speed of the car from town A to town B = 30 km/hr.

Speed of the car from town B to town A = 60 km/hr .

To Find,

Average speed of the car in its complete journey.

Formula to be used,

Time = Distance/Speed

Average speed = Total distance covered/Total time taken

Solution,

Let us the car travels a distance x km.

Case 1,

⇒ Time, t₁ = x/30 hr.

Case 2,

⇒Time t₂ = x/60 hr.

Total time taken = t₁ + t₂

⇒ Total time taken = x/30 + x/60

⇒ Total time taken = (2x + x)/60

⇒ Total time taken = 3x/60

Total time taken = x/20 hrs

Now, total distance covered,

Total distance covered = x + x = 2x km

Now, Average speed,

Average speed = Total distance covered/Total time taken

⇒ Average speed = 2x/(x/20)

⇒ Average speed = (2x × 20)/x

Average speed = 40 km/hr.

Hence, the average speed of the car is 40 km/h.
