A car has a spring system that supports
the in-built mass 1000 kg. when a person
with a weight 980 N sits at the Cof G,
the spring system sinks by 2.8 cm. When
the car hits a bump, it starts oscillating

Given:

m = 1000 kg

F = 980 N

x = 2.8 cm

To find:

Find the period and frequency of  oscillations

Solution:

k = F/x

k = 980/0.028

k = 3.5 × 10⁴ N/m

m' = 980/9.8 = 100kg

T = 2\pi \sqrt{\frac{m}{k} } \\\\T = 2\pi \sqrt{\frac{1000 + 100}{3.5*10^{4} } }

T = 1.11 sec

f = 1/T

f = 1/1.11

f = 0.90 Hz

Therefore, the time period is 1.11 sec and frequency is 0.90 Hz
