A car has an acceleration of +2m/s^2. What does this tell you about the velocity of the car. What is meant by an acceleration of -2m/s^2

The acceleration of an object does not give us any idea of the velocity of an object, the only comment we can make related to velocity here  is that velocity is increasing by 2m/s every second.

When we say -2m/s^2 we mean that the object is accelerating in a direction which is opposite to the direction of motion and hence the -ve sign OR the object is reducing its velocity by 2m/s every second
