Given:

Marked price = Rs. 1,50,000

Selling price = Rs. 1, 25, 000

What to find?

We have to find the discount and discount percentage of a car.

How to find?

To find the discount we will use the formula MP (marked price) - SP (selling price) = Discount and then to find discount percentage we will use the formula Discount % = \bold{\frac{Discount}{MP}\times100}.

Solution:

First find the discount using the formula,

⇒ MP - SP = Discount

Substitute the values,

⇒ Rs. 1,50,000 - Rs. 1,25,000

Subtract the numbers,

⇒ Rs. 25,000

Now find the discount % using the formula,

Discount\%=\dfrac{Discount}{MP}\times100

Substitute the values,

Discount\%=\dfrac{Rs.25000}{Rs.150000}\times100

Cancel zeros in 25000, 150000and 100,

Discount\%=\dfrac{25}{15}\times10

Cancel 25 and 15,

Discount\%=\dfrac{5}{3}\times10

Multiply 5 by 10,

Discount\%=\dfrac{50}{3}=approx\:16.6\%

So, the discount is Rs. 25000 and percentage is approx 16.6%.
