Given :

  • Initial velocity, u = 90 km/h
  • Final velocity, v = 0 m/s (as it applies brakes)
  • Distance travelled, s = 6 m

To find :

  • The retardation of car, a

According to the question,

Note :-

We need to change the Initial velocity in m/s,

  • Initial velocity, u = 25 m/s

v² = + 2as [Third equation of motion]

Where,

  • v = Final velocity
  • u = Initial velocity
  • a = Acceleration
  • s = Distance

➞ Substituting the values,

➞ (0)² = (25)² + 2 × a × 6

➞ 0 = 625 = 12a

➞ 0 - 625 = 12a

➞ - 625 ÷ 12 = a

➞ - 52.0833 = a

  • So, the retardation of car is 52.0833 m/s².
