u ( INITIAL VELOCITY ) = 20 m/ sec
s ( DISTANCE ) = 50 m
v ( Final Velocity ) = 0 m/sec since car has to stop
Using 3rd equation of motion :

v square = u square + 2 as
0 square = 20 square + 2 * a * 50
0 = 400 + 100a
- 400 = 100 a
=> a = 400 / 100

=> a = 4 m / sec square

ANSWER = 4 m / sec square
