A car is travelling at 20kmph, it speeds up to 60kmph in 6 seconds.
What is its ACCELERATION!!?

PruthviNath: Hi friends. Can anyone solve this problem?? It is of 10 points

Hi,

Here first we have to convert velocities in m/s

Given: Initial velocity = 20km/hr = 5.56m/s

Final velocity = 60 km/hr = 16.67m/s

Time = 6sec

using v=u+at

we get

16.67=5.56+a*6

after solving,a=1.85m/s2(ans.)

Hope this helps,

Good luck.

\huge{\bf{\star{SOLUTION}}}

KNOWN TERMS:-

u = intial velocity

v = final velocity

t = time

_________________________

GIVEN:-

 u = 20kmph =  \frac{20 \times 1000}{3600}  =  \frac{50}{9}  {ms}^{ - 1}

v = 60kmph =  \frac{60 \times 1000}{3600}  =  \frac{50}{3}  {ms}^{ - 1}

t = 6s

_______________________________

Acceleration of a body is the change in it's velocity.

FORMULA

\boxed{\red{Acceleration={\frac{v-u}{t}}}}

_________________________________

Using the formula , we get,

a =  \frac{ \frac{50}{3} -  \frac{50}{9}  }{6}

a =  \frac{ \frac{50}{3} \times  \frac{3}{3} -  \frac{50}{9}   }{6}

 a = \frac{ \frac{150 - 50}{9} }{6}

 a = \frac{ \frac{100}{9} }{6}

a =  \frac{100}{9  \times 6}

a =  \frac{100}{54}

a = 1.851 {ms^{-2}}

<marquee> Acceleration = 1.851ms-2 </marquee>
