A Car is travelling at 20m/s along a road a child runs out into the road 50m ahead and the car driver stops on the break pedal what must be the cars deceleration be if the car is to stop just before it reaches the child

a = u^2 / (2S)
= (20)^2 / (2 × 50)
= 40 m/s^2

Car’s deceleration should be 40 m/s^2 to just stop before it reaches the child.
