a car is travelling at speed of 108 km h ^-1 . acceleration produced in the opposite direction of motion on applying brakes to the car is 2.5 ms^-2
[1] after how many seconds will the car stop ?
[2] how much distance is travelled by the car before it comes to rest?

Explanation:

initial velocity of the car=108km/h=108*5/18=30m/s

final velocity of the car=0m/s

acceleration=-2.5m/s²

1) time=?

from first equation of motion

v=u+at

0=30+(-2.5)*t

-30=-2.5t

30=2.5t

t=30/2.5=12s

2) from second equation of motion

s=ut+1/2at²

=30*12+1/2*(-2.5)*12*12

=360+(-2.5)*62

=360+(-155)

=360-155

=205m
