• As we are already given with the speed values ,we need not use the distance time and speed relationship.

We need to know that:-

$\bf{Speed = \dfrac{Distance}{Time}}$

And also,

$\bf{Average \ Speed = \dfrac{Total \ Distance}{Total \ Time}}$

We need not use any of them.

We will attempt is as:-

$\bf{Average \ Speed = \dfrac{40 + 60}{2}}$

• For given 2 speeds.
• And given 2 paths.

$\bf{Average \ Speed = \dfrac{100}{2}}$

$\sf{Average \ Speed = 50 km/h }$ is the answer.
