A car leaves Saraipalli, travels at 75 km per hour and reaches Raipur in 4 hours. The
next time there was traffic and construction work on the road due to which the speed
is decreased by 15 km per hour. How long will the car take to reach Raipur?

Solution

The car reaches Raipur traveling from the average speed of 75 km/hr in 4 hrs from Saraypali.

On reducing 15 km/h in average speed,

The average speed = 60 km/hr

Then, from this speed it reaches Raipur in X hours.

Since, there is reciprocal ratio between speed and the time, hence,

Speed : Speed : : Time : Time

75 : 60 : : X : 4

⟾ \frac{75}{60}  =  \frac{x}{4}

⟾ \frac{5}{4}  =  \frac{x}{4}

⟾x = 5

Thus, on reducing the speed car will reach Raipur in 5 hours.
