Step-by-step explanation:

North distance represent by positive sign. South distance represent by negative sign.

As A goes to North its \( +17\;km\)

When A goes to South its \( -14\;km\)

Hence, the final position of \( A\) is \( +3\;km\) North of its initial position.

Hope this helps you

If north direction is represented by positive integer then south direction will be represented by negative integer as south direction is opposite of north direction.

so final position from point A is = 17 km - 14 km = 3 km
