A car moves a distance of 500 m it covers half of the distance with a velocity 60 km/ h and the next half the distance at speed v .The average speed is 48 km/ h find the value of v

distance = 500m

They have mentioned that the car covers equal distance in various velocities

So the formula for calculating average velocity is

                                                      2*V1*V2/V1 +V2

                              48  = 2 * 60 * v/60 +v

               48 * (60 + v) =  120 * v

             2880 + 48v    =  120v

                        2880   = 120v - 48v

                        2880   = 72v

                               v   =  2880/72

                               v   =  40 km/hr
