speed = 20 kmph
time = 15 min = 15/60 = 1/4 h
distance = speed × time = 20×1/4 = 5 km

speed = 60 kmph
time = 15 min = 15/60 = 1/4 h
distance = speed × time = 60×1/4 = 15 km

total distance =5 + 15 = 20km

total distance covered by car is 20km

for first case:

=) d1 = 20 km/h × 15 min
= 20/60 × 15
= 5 km

for d2 :

=) d2 = 60/60 * 15

= 15 km.

hence total d = d1 + d2 = 20 km.
