Given :  A car moves between two station A and B.

It moves with a speed of 20 km/h from A to B and returns from B to A at a speed of 10 km/h.

To Find :   The average speed

Solution:

Distance = Speed * Time

Let say Distance between A and B is   20D  km

moves with a speed of 20 km/h from A to B

Time = 20D/20  = D hrs

moves with a speed of 10 km/h from B to A

Time = 20D/10  = 2D hrs

Total Distance = 20D  + 20D  = 40D  km

Total Time = D + 2D  = 3D  hrs

Average Speed  = (40D/3D)  = 40/3  km/hr

The average speed is 40/3 km/hr

Answer:

Distance Speed * Time =

Let say Distance between A and B is 20D km

moves with a speed of 20 km/h from A to B

Time = 20D/20 = D hrs

moves with a speed of 10 km/h from B to A

Time = 20D/10 = 2D hrs

Total Distance = 20D + 20D = 40D km

Total Time = D + 2D = 3D hrs

Average Speed = (40D/3D) = 40/3 km/hr

The average speed is 40/3 km/hr.
