average speed = total distance travelled / total time

Total distance travelled

= 30km/h * 0.5 h + 25km/h * 1 2/3 h

+ 40km/h *2 h

= 136.667 km

Total time = 0.5+1 2/3 + 2

= 4.1667 h

Average speed = 136.667/4.1667

= 32.8 km/h

Answer:

a car moves with a speed of 30km/h-1 for half an hour .25 km/h-1 for one hour and 40km/h-1 for two hours. calculate the average speed of the car.

speed =30km/hr

time=1/2hr

distance=30*1/2=15km

speed=25*1=25km

time=1hr

distance=25*1=25

speed =40km/hr

t=2h

distance=40×2=80km/hr

total distance =15+25+80=120km

total time:3.5hr

avarage speed=120/3.5=34.29km/hr (aprox)
