cars speed  in first 15mins = 40km/h

       distance = speed x time

                       =  40 x 15

                        =  600 meters

           cats speed in second  15mins= 60km/h

                      d = s x t

                           = 60 x 15

                            =     900 meters

total distance  tavelled in 30mins =  distance travelled in 1st   15mins+ distance travelled in 2nd 15mins

                                                         =   600 + 900

                                                          = 1500 meters

                                                       in km

                                                      1km= 1000m

                                                         1m = 1/1000

                                                       1500m= 1500/1000

                                                                  = 1.5 km      ...............................
