for 1st 15 mins
dist. covered = 40* 15/60 = 10 km
for next 15 mins
dist. covered = 60*15/60 = 15 km

:. the total distance covered in 30 mins = 15+10 km = 25 km.

hope it helps

Speed = Distance / Time
Distance = Speed * Time

Time = 15 mins = 1/4 hr

D1 = 40 * 1/4
D1 = 10km

D2 = 60 * 1/4
D2 = 15km

Total distance = D1 + D2
Total distance = 25km

Cheers!!
