Answer:

A car moves with a speed of 50km/hr for 15 minutes and then with a speed of 70 km/hr for the next 15 minutes .find the total distance covered by the car?

Answer: 30 km

Explanation:

We know that

speed = distance / time

distance = speed x time

therefore, distance covered by in first 15 minutes

                 = 50 x 15 / 60   (since 15 min = 15/60 hour )

                 = 75 / 6 km

and then distance covered by car in next 15 minutes

                = 70 x 15 / 60

                = 105 / 6 km

Hence, Total distance covered by the car = 75 / 6 + 105 / 6 = 180 / 6 = 30 km.

total distance covered by the car will be 30 km.

Given :

The initial speed of car = S_1 = 50 km/h

Initial time to cover distance = T_1 = 15 min = 0.25 hour

The final speed of car = S_2 = 70 km/h

final time to cover distance = T_2 = 15 min = 0.25 hour

To find :

Total distance cover by car

Solution

Distance = Speed × Time

Let The initial distance = D_1  km

Let The final distance = D_2   km

Now,

For initial

 D_1  = S_1  ×  T_1

       = 50 km/h  ×  0.25 h

       = 12.5 km

For Final

 D_2  = S_2  ×  T_2

       = 70 km/h  ×  0.25 h

       = 17.5 km

So, Total distance cover by car = D = D_1  km + D_2   km

                                                           = 12.5  km  +  17.5  km

                                                           = 30 km

Hence, The Total distance cover by car with different speeds is 30 km . Answer
