Answer

Given -

s_1 = 150 km ,v_1 = 50 km/hr

s_2 = 200km , v_2 = 40 km/hr

s_3 = 300 km , v_3 = 80 km/hr

━━━━━━━━━━━━━

To find -

Average speed

━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Formula used -

Average speed = \frac{ Total \: distance}{Total \: time}

━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Solution

Time taken by car to travel 150 km =

t_1 = \frac{150}{50}  = 3hr

Time taken to travel 200 km

t_2 =  \frac{200}{40} = 5hr

Time taken to travel 300 km

t_3 =  \frac{300}{80}  = 3.75hr

━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Total distance = 150 + 200 + 300 = 650km

Total time = 3 + 5 + 3.75 = 11.75 hr

━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Average speed = \frac{650}{11 .75}  = 55km/hr
