A car moving along a straight highway with

speed of 126Kmh is brought to a stop with

in a distance of 200m. what is the retardation

of the car ?

ANSWER

Given

☣ u = 126 km/hr

= 126 X 5/18

= 35 m/s //

☣. When car is at rest we know that it's velocity V = 0

Distance S = 200 m

Acceleration a =?

Time t = ?

☣APPLYING THE EQUATION OF MOTION ☣

V² = u²- 2as

a = v² - u² / 2s

a = 0 - (35)² / 2 X 200

= -35 X 35 / 400 ( by calculating you will get the answer as )

= -49/ 16

= -3.06

Here the -Ve sign represent the retardation

The retardation of the car is -3.06 //
