Let u0 is initial speed. to get distance covered in first one second with acceleration a, we need to use equation "S=ut+(1/2)at2 "

hence for first one second we have : u0+(1/2)a = 20 ....................(1)

at the end of first one second, speed u1 is : u1 = u0+a

Hence for next one second we have = (u0+a)+(1/2)a = 30 ..............(2)

By solving (1) and (2), we get u0 = 15 m/s, a = 10 m/s2
