Answer- Initial velocity of the car (u)= 54 km/h = 15 m/s

When brakes are applied, the car stops. So, the final velocity of car (v)= 0 m/s

Distance covered (s)= 20 m

Whenever there is a change in velocity, acceleration is produced.

Let acceleration = a

Using 3rd equation of motion,

2as= v² - u²

2×a×20= (0)² - (15)²

40×a= -225

a= -225 ÷ 40

Therefore, acceleration of the car= -5.625 m/s²
