a car of mass 1000 kg moving with a speed of 18 km h if the cofficent of fk is 0.5. calculate the maximum compression of the spring when the spring constant is 6.26*10^3​

18km perhour= 18×1000÷ 3600

                       = 5m/s

Conservation of energy can be used to solve this problem

Initial energy ( due to kinetic energy- work done by friction)=  Work done by spring

Kinetic energy = mv²÷ 2 = 500× 25= 12500

Work due to friction = 0.5× Normal force

                                  = 0.5 × 1000×10= 5000

Work done by spring= kx²÷ 2

                                  =3.13×10³× x²

12500- 5000= 3.13×10³×x²

x=1.547m
