Acceleration will be

 \frac{0 - (45 \times \frac{5}{18} )}{5} \\ \frac{0 - 2.5 \times 5}{5} \\ \frac{0 - 12.5}{5} \\ \frac{ - 12.5}{5} \\ - 2.5 \: m {s}^{ - 2}

Retardation will be 2.5 m/s²

Now,
Force = 1000*2.5
2500 Newtons

Answer:

Force, F = -2500 N

Explanation:

It is given that,

Mass of the car, m = 1000 kg

Initial speed of the car, u = 45 km/hr = 12.5 m/s

It stops, v = 0

Time taken, t = 5 s

We need to find the  force exerted by car on tree. It can be calculated using the formula as follows :

F = ma

F=m\times \dfrac{v-u}{t}

F=1000\times \dfrac{0-12.5}{5}

F = -2500 N

So, the force exerted by the car on tree is -2500 N. Hence, this is the required solution.
