A car of mass 1000kg travelling at 8.0m/s collides with a lorry truck of mass 3000kg that is traveling at 2.0m/s in the same direction. After colliding, the two vehicles stick toy. What is their speed after collision?

Total Momentum Before= Total Momentum After

thus

m1v1+m2v2=(m1+m2)v3

Plugging in the numbers and re-arranging for v3 gives

100020+10000=2000*v3

v3=(1000*20)/2000=10m/s
