A car of mass 1200 kg is moving with a velocity of 108 km/h. On applying breaks, its velocity is reduced to 36 km/h. Find change in momentum.

Given -

m = 1200kg

u =108km/h

= 108×5/18

= 6×5

=30m/s

v = 36km/h

=36×5/18

= 2×5

=10m/s

Change in momentum =?

Change in momentum =final momentun - initial momentum

Change in momentum =m (v - u )

= 1200( 10 - 30)

= 1200 × -20

. = -24000 kg.m/s
