Question : A car of mass 150 kg is moving om a level road with a velocity of 52 km/hr. Find the work don in stopping the car.

Solution :  Given in the question,

Mass = 150 kg.

Velocity (initial) = 52 Km/hr ⇒ 52 × 1000 m / 60 × 60 sec = 14.44 m/s.

(Final velocity = 0)

Work done = Change in kinetic energy.

Therefore, Work done = Initial K.E. - Final K.E.

⇒ Work done = i K.E. - f K.E. ⇒ 1/2 m (vi² - vf²)

⇒ Work done = 1/2 × 150 × {(14.44)² - (0)²}

After solving we got,

⇒ Work done = 15638 Joules. (approximately).
